Lifting Accessories Inspectors
What are lifting accessory inspections?
As past of our fully-comprehensive inspections, lifting accessories are actually included when we perform lifting equipment inspections. The separate categorisation of ‘lifting equipment’ and ‘lifting accessories’ is something outlined within LOLER regulations and why we must undertake separate inspections for each, however they are both assessed during the same overall inspection service.
What are classified as lifting accessories?
Lifting Accessories are deemed by LOLER regulations to be ‘pieces of equipment that are used to attach the load to lifting equipment’. As an example, these include items such as fibre or rope slings, chains (single or multiple leg), hooks, eyebolts, spreader beams, magnetic, vacuum devices and much more.
How often do I need lifting accessories to be inspected?
In order to provide you with full accordance with both LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) 1998 and, where applicable, PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) 1998, any lifting equipment must have a ‘thorough examination’ once per year, and possibly every 6 months depending on the exact type of equipment, and subsequently we will also inspect individual lifting accessories at the same time.
Why should I use AV Statutory Inspections?
The legal requirement for lifting equipment and accessories inspections is ‘using people who are sufficiently competent’ to undertake the inspection. Therefore it is not something that can be completed by unqualified in-house staff and is why we pride ourselves at Statutory AV Inspections for providing a fully comprehensive service with over 20 years experience.
