Pallet Racking Inspection & Testing

We provide a professional pallet racking inspection service for businesses and companies (especially those with warehouses and storage facilities) who use any style of heavy load storage racking for their goods. Often overlooked, pallet racking actually falls within the category of ‘Work Equipment’ under PUWER regulations and therefore should be professionally inspected by a certified inspector to ensure it remains safe to use.

Our professional pallet testing and inspection service ensures that all of your storage racking is in full compliance of the guidelines laid out by SAFed (Safety Assessment Federation) and HSE (Health and Safety Executive).

If you have any questions or would like to get a quote for the inspection of your pallet storage racking then please feel free to contact us via the button below and a member of our team will be glad to assist.

What are pallet racking inspections?

Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), pallet racking is considered work equipment, and as such, it falls under the scope of the regulations and must undergo pallet racking inspections. PUWER is a set of UK regulations that aim to ensure that work equipment provided for use in workplaces is safe for employees and others. It places legal obligations on employers and others who have control over work equipment to maintain its safety and prevent risks to those who use or come into contact with it.

How often do I need a pallet racking inspection?

As outlined under PUWER regulations, a ‘technically competent person’ must conduct thorough pallet racking inspections at least once every twelve months – also referred to as an ‘Expert Inspector’. This expert could be an in-house specialist, a qualified rack inspector from the rack supplier, or an independent professional – which is where we come in. In the majority of cases, it’s much easier to use a company such as ourselves to complete the testing and inspection to ensure the work has been carried out to a high level and adheres to all regulations – and is usually more cost effective than ongoing in-house training.

What is included in an escalator inspection?

Our inspection services involves a comprehensive assessment of all racking systems, including hidden structural issues that may not be apparent during visual inspections. The findings are recorded in a written report along with recommended actions to address any identified concerns and include specifics such as:

  • Review of Racking Documentation
  • Interviews and Communication
  • Detailed Visual Inspection
  • Testing and Load Assessment
  • Checks for Plumb and Level
  • Floor Condition
  • Connection Integrity
  • Fire Safety Compliance
  • Rack Protection
  • Structural Integrity and Stability
